My Blog:

I orginally started my blog as a way to keep in touch with my sister as she is in college and as a journal of my life for my children to someday read. I would have loved to have something like this to look at and see what my mom went through and felt while watching my brothers and I grow up. My mom passed away on May 28, 2007 from a brain aneurism. It showed me how short life truly is. I have grown alot since then, not only as a person but in Faith. God is the only person that has helped me overcome the death of my mom. I look back now, and it has only been one year and a half but alot has changed since then. This blog has helped me write out my feelings and share special moments in my life with others. I feel that someday I might be able to help someone else that doesn't have hope or faith to get through a difficult time. God is AMAZING! I also have a very supportive husband that I can't live without! It is amazing to me how much closer we have became through these difficult times and I am so grateful for that!

"For in our suffering, not apart from it, Jesus enters our
sadness, takes us by the hand,
pulls us gently up to stand, and invites us to dance.
We find the way to pray, as the psalmist did,
"You have turned my mourning into dancing" (Ps 30:11),
because at the center of our grief
we can find the grace of God."

(excerpt from Henri Nouwen's "Turn My Mourning Into Dancing")

I found this on "Bring the Rain" Blog. I have found several blogs that have really touched me. It is a whole new world.

Something on my heart...
I read a blog
www.kellyskornerblog.com and they are going through a difficult time right now and they need our prayers. Kelly just had a baby and there have been some complications since "baby Harper" has come to this world. Here is what Kelly writes:
Update on my girl:
We were able to meet with Harper's doctor today for the first time since she has been there. It was a very good meeting. He gave us a lot of details. It was very difficult for me to sit and listen to him talk about how sick my little baby is. Our families felt it was very positive but it was just scary for me. Basically it is a long and gradual process. They believe she got an infection which has caused the problems with her lungs. They think her heart and brain are both good. Very, very slowly - they are trying to get her off the oxygen that is supporting her lungs. They think ECMO is a final resort. We will most likely be here for weeks. Her numbers seem to improve little by little and we do have a lot of hope. She is critical but stable.
A lot of you ask how I am doing. It's hard. I'm very swollen and in a lot of pain but it's getting better every day. I have a hard time doing the things I should like resting, eating, Pumping on a schedule - because I'm so focused on everything else. I'm trying hard to slow down and focus on what I need to get well so I can be the best mom for Harper I can be.

We love each of you who visit this blog DEARLY!

It's that time of year again...

What is going on in our life this week...

Just some proof that Ellie and I like American Idol...:)

I am so excited that it is time for American Idol again. I remember when I first started watching it when Ellie was almost one year old. Her and I use to talk to the T.V. and get excited when someone sang really well. It is so much fun watching shows like this. That is what I think at least...:)

It is also time for the Bachelor..:)

I am addicted to this show too...
I haven't picked out who I think will win his heart yet. I don't care for Nikki so far nor do I think Meghan should be there. Just my thoughts..

I can not believe it is the day of the inauguration. Although I don't care for what Obama stands for nor do I agree with what he says, I still feel moved when I watch what is happening on television. It is a great day to see everyone come together. I am glad that a Black man can become president in the United States of America. That is an awesome thing! It is out of my hands and in God's hands now! I will continue to pray for him and the decisions that he will be faced with as his term is filled.

On a different note: I started a bible class called the "Frazzled Female"

check out her website: http://www.frazzledfemale.com
I am going to the class once a week on Thursday morning while the kids are in school.
I am really enjoying it. It is time to reflect on my relationship with God. That is very important to me! I want to be a good mom, wife and friend. No better way than to learn from God's teaching. Life is so Frazzled and I think if we stop for just a minute and make time for God, he will help us deal with all Life brings our way.
Love to all,
Lizzy

Forgiveness..

I started reading a devotional book as I shared recently and one of the stories in it is about Forgiveness.
It explained Forgiveness in a different light and I just wanted to share.

Key Verse:
Matthew 6:12
Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

In our hearts we sometimes store unforgiven words to God, to ourselves, to a family member, to a neighbor, or to someone at work. When we have not forgiven we become captive to that act and it holds us prisoner until we forgive. So we need to clean that slate of unforgiveness - to release and let go.

Forgiveness is very costly; there can be pain when we seek to forgive. Yet Jesus forgave while on the cross and we have to do it as well. True forgiveness from us to others isn't possible unless we have experienced God's forgiveness to us. We can't give away what we haven't experienced.

We first have to let God forgive us before we can forgive others. Out of our gratitude for God's forgiveness to us we are able to understand this whole area of forgiveness. When we are right with God we want to get right with others. The only person who is a slave to un-forgiveness is ourself. When we consider this area of forgiveness we think of three groups of people:
.Those who need our forgiveness
.Those with whom we need to seek forgiveness
.Those who need our help in forgiving others.

Our longest list would probably be found in group two above. As in today's Scripture passage, Jesus says that we are to be forgiven of our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. We cannot be forgiven unless we forgive. Un-confessed forgiveness clogs up our spiritual arteries. We will never have good blood flow to our heart until we get rid of what clogs us up. God wants to go to our hearts, but we can't receive his blessings and abundance because we need to clean up this matter called forgiveness.

One of God's biblical principles is that unforgiving people cannot receive forgiveness. Jesus didn't say that it wouldn't be painful, for many times it is. However, to become fresh in our Christian walk we must clean the slate of all the marks we have logged against others. Then God can flow freely in our lives. First John 1:9 states, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."

Good times..

My good friend Raquel came in town to visit during the holiday. I could not wait to hang out with her and her daughter Raquel. They both have the same name :)!
Raquel and I use to work together with the military. After Hurricane Katrina, I got out the military and she ramained in Guard. She works in Alexandria now. We don't get the chance to see each other that often but I try to get together with her when she comes in town. We were both pregnant together with our first child; Ellie and Raquel. Ellie was born on February 3, 2004 and Raquel was born March 21, 2004. It seems so long ago. The girls love each other and play well together. Here are some pictures from our day together. We ate at Bravo's in Metairie and then we went to Lafanere Park in Metairie and fed the ducks and played at the park. What a fun Day!

Don't stand Idly by..

It's that time of the year again..time to make a New Year Resolution.

I want to have a closer relationship with God! There is no better way than reading his words.
There are so many things to learn and so many answers to questions and problems I am facing everyday. Finding the time is hard, but it is worth making the time.

Starting NOW!!!

I have been reading a devotional book and I wanted to share something from it.

Key Verse: Matthew 25:21
Well done, good and faithful servant!

A lobster, when left high and dry among the rocks, doesn't have sense and energy enough to work his way back to the sea, but waits for the sea to come to him. If it doesn't come, he remains where he is and dies, although the slightest exertion would have enabled him to reach the waves, which are perhaps tossing and tumbling within a yard of him.

There is likewise a tide in human affairs that casts people into tight places, and leaves them there like stranded lobsters. If they choose to lie where the breakers have thrown them, expecting some great billow to take them on its big shoulders and carry them to smooth water, the chances are that their hopes will never be realized.

In today's passage God calls us to faithfully use our talents for Him, and He warns those who do not use the talents He has given them. Now consider what God is saying specifically to you in this parable that Jesus told. What talents has God given you? Too often we think of talents as fully developed abilities, but it is only as we cultivate our talents that they become mature. Furthermore, we must be willing to take the risk of using our talents. When we do, we then find out how far God can take us. Many times people will give you indications for what your talents are: "You're a good teacher; you write such comforting notes; when I'm in trouble you're always there; your singing really lifts me up!" Listen to what people are encouraging you about, since this could be God's way of telling you of that special gift He has given you.

Let's look at today's Scripture. In this parable the first two servants were willing to take a risk. Not only did they receive a 100 percent return for their efforts, but their master said, "Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!" (Matthew 25:21,22). Note that despite their different talents and abilities the first two servants received the same reward, indicating that God requires us to be faithful in the use of our abilities, whatever they are.
If you want to be successful in God's eyes, you must first be faithful with a few things. Then God will put you in charge of many things. Do you think no one cold be blessed by your talent? This passage tells you to take the risk. Volunteer for that position, write that book, sign up for that class, offer to help with that project. Listen to God today as he calls you to the life of adventure that comes with using the gifts he has given you. Don't limit God.

Now lets look at the warning to those of us who don't use our talents. The third servant was afraid. Unwilling to take a risk with his one talent, he went and buried it in the ground. Are you burying your talents? God will hold you responsible for what you do with your talents, with your life. This third servant is condemned for his slothfulness and indifference.
God wants you to take the risk of using the talents He has give you, even if they don't seem like much to you. Take the first step today and you'll be amazed at what God can do with ordinary people. And you'll also be blessed when one day you stand before God and hear him say, "Well done, good and faithful servant!"
